Swedish Massage

The Joys Of Swedish Massage

Swedish massage is a type of massage therapy that is quite popular in the world of spas and health resorts, and you might wonder if this type of massage is for you.

Swedish massage While every massage you get will be highly dependent on the skill and philosophy of the person who is giving it, you'll find that there are many factors which can help you decide if this is the type of massage that you are interested in.

As with any massage, Swedish massage is meant to make you feel healthier and more relaxed all around, but the question is how it can do that and what it will do for you.

Swedish massage is one of the most popular methods of massage in the world and it is frequently taught as a basic staple of massage therapy instruction.

This style is one that uses long and flowing strokes, often moving inward towards the center line of the body.

This type of massage has been around for more than a hundred years and though it was attributed to a Swedish fencing master, it was actually founded by a Dutchman, who used French to denote the different types of strokes that are used in the massage itself.

In the late 1800s, it was used very frequently by people who were interested in the Swedish Movement system, which attained a great deal of popularity and is where the art presumably takes its name.

Why you should get a massage

You'll find that while the traditional reason to get a massage is to relax, studies have found that Swedish massage can have a great deal of benefit if applied to conditions like back pain, headaches, and inflammations like arthritis or Carpal-Tunnel syndrome.

You'll also find that if you have been injured or you have recently undergone surgery that your doctor may recommend Swedish massage as a part of your recovery and rehabilitation plan.

Keep in mind that though Swedish massage is relaxing, you may feel a small amount of aching.

Precautions you should consider

You should also keep in mind that you should not have a Swedish massage session if you have an infectious skin disease or rash, or if you currently have unhealed, open wounds.

People prone to blood clots or who have heart disease should also contact their doctors before deciding to undertake Swedish massage.

Pregnant women should search out massage therapists who are certified to perform pregnancy massage.

If you are in any situation where you are currently undergoing a medical treatment like chemotherapy or another type of radiation therapy, it is usually recommended that you avoid massage therapy unless your doctor recommends it; if he does so, ask him to recommend a good massage therapist who can work with your condition.

As you can see, Swedish massage can have many positive effects on your body, so make sure you take a look at its benefits as soon as you are able to!
