Reiki
Hands on Healing

The basics

The word Reiki is actually comprised of two different Japanese words.
The first is Rei, which means "God's Wisdom" or "The Higher Power".
The second is Ki, which represents "Life force energy". When the two words are combined, it is meant to represent the idea of "Spiritually guided life force energy".

Ki is the Japanese form of the word Chi or qi and the Sanskrit word Prana, breath of life.

reiki-hands Reiki is a Japanese stress reduction and relaxation technique that promotes healing of the body.
This technique is administered through laying hands on the body, and is based around the concept that there is an unseen energy or life force, which is what, causes us to live and to be healthy.
Our life force energy, also called ki or chi, moves through our bodies through pathways called chakras. It also flows around us in a field or energy called the aura.
If our life force energy becomes low, then, we are much more likely to feel stress or to become sick.
On the other hand, if our life force energy is high, then we can much more easily be healthy and happy in our lives. Free-flowing prana or chi lessens stress and increases our resistance to disease.

Reiki treatments create a glowing radiance that flows through and around the body.
This treatment treats the entire person, which means that their emotions, their body, their mind and their spirit are all treated together, creating a number of truly beneficial effects including peaceful feelings, security, relaxation and overall well being.

This modality is a form of spiritual healing that is simple, safe and natural and it can be used and enjoyed by everyone. It has shown itself to be effective in aiding in recovery from many known maladies and illnesses, and it always leaves behind a beneficial effect.

Reiki is also popular used in conjunction with other therapeutic and medical treatments and techniques as a means of relieving side effects associated with medical treatments, and promoting a quick and healthy recovery.

This technique is actually surprisingly simple to learn. It is actually transferred to a student during the class rather than taught in any traditional sense.
The ability is essentially passed on during an attunement, which gives the student the ability to tap into an unlimited supply of this life force energy courtesy of the Reiki master, which allows the student to enhance their quality of life and to improve their health.

All alternative healers make use of life force, or Ki, in their healing practices. However, not all healers make use of Reiki specifically. This therapy utilizes a specific kind of life force or pranic energy, differentiated as universal love, that can typically only be channeled by someone who is attuned to it.
Most healers, if they have not received the attunement from a Reiki Master, are not actually making use of this specific technique but rather another type of life force for healing. There have been many healers who felt the strength of their healing increase at least by fifty percent upon taking this specific training to build strength in their healing energies.

Reiki is guided by the God consciousness, which means that it cannot do harm.
It is designed to know what people need, and this healing energy can adjust itself to create the appropriate effect. This treatment is regarded as always helpful, and it is generally believed that it is not capable of causing harm.
Because the practitioner is not directing the healing or determining what specifically to heal or work on, the practitioner does not have to worry about taking on the client's karma.
The practitioner is not who is doing the healing, meaning that it is easier to keep the ego out of the way, allowing God's presence to shine through instead.

Because this technique is a channeled healing, the therapist or practitioner never has to worry about his or her energies becoming depleted. In fact, the Reiki consciousness considers the client and the practitioner both to be in need of this healing, that both receive treatment simultaneously. Giving this treatment, then, always increases the energy and leaves the body surrounded with well being and loving feelings.

This is an extremely simple and natural form of healing that benefits all those who participate in it.
