Cosmetic Med Spas

The difference between day spas and cosmetic med spas

If you are in the market for some rest and rejuvenation- and who isn't?- you might find yourself a little bewildered by the various types of spas out there.

You will find that there are many different types of spas, and while they all claim to be the best in their fields, you might not be aware of what that field exactly entails!

Learning a little bit about two major types of spa can help you figure out what you want out of your spa-going experience, and you'll find that with just a little bit of study and research, you can find the best spa that will suit your needs.

The day spas and the cosmetic med spas are both wonderfully restorative institutions, but despite having similar goals, they are quite different.

Before you make your decision, there is some information that you should be aware of.

Day Spa

The day spa is typically a local place that you can access on a regular basis.

Rather than being a destination that you specifically head to, it should be convenient to where you live and where you work.

Many people go to their day spa on a weekly basis and develop a close working relationship with the staff there.

With a day spa, it is very easy to fall into a routine that can be quite healthy for you.

You'll find that a day spa will encourage you to take better care of yourself on a daily basis.

Day spas will feature different treatments designed to relax and beautify the client, ranging from massages to facials, microdermabrasion and body treatments.

You will find services like manicures and pedicures radily available

Med spa

A medical spa, on the other hand, is also devoted to wellness, but its aims tend to be a great deal more focused.

For instance, cosmetic medical spas are places that are only run under the supervision of a licensed health care professional, something that is firmly mandated by the International Medical Spa Association.

Cosmetic medical spas will feature a wide variety of different procedures that are designed to beautify the client, like:

Chemical Peels

Botox® injections

Dermal fillers

Collagen

Radiesse

Restylane® and Perlane®

IPL Photo Facials

LED Skin Rejuvenation

You'll find that when it comes to intense and noticeable change that the medical spa is what you are interested in.

Which one is for you?

There are many factors that will go into your decision as to which facility to use.

The first factor that you should consider is time.

How much time do you have to spend on your spa experience?

A day spa excursion can be planned for a few hours to a full day, while a medical spa will frequently have overnight facilities.

If you have some vacation time, you might want to consider a destination or wellness spa, but if you are looking for something that you can hit on a Saturday morning and leave by late Saturday afternoon, a day spa will be much more your speed.

Second, you will want to think about what your own personal goals are.

Why are you going to a spa?

A day spa is ideal if you are looking for a way to make your entire lifestyle healthier; it's perfect for sliding into your routine a regular basis.

A medical spa, on the other hand, can help you accomplish specific goals when it comes to your personal appearance and preferences.

Both of these spas will have things like facials, massages and body treatments of various sources, but keep in mind what you want out of your spa experience.

You'll also want to consider what sort of speed you want to work at.

As mentioned above, a day spa is all about improvement over time.

The general philosophy of day spas is that overall health and beauty are achieved through maintenance and care, while a medical spa concentrates on specific areas that you want to change and work on changing them specifically.

Keep in mind that both these goals get you to the same place, which is happiness and a feeling of wellness when you think about yourself, but also remember that they will get you there in different ways!

If you are in the market for a stellar spa experience, take some time to really think about the various kinds of spas and what you will take away from each.

You'll find that with a little bit of time, you'll be able find the best spa for your needs!
