Body Treatments

Hydrotherapy Aromatherapy-bath Body-scrubing body-wrap

The Basics

Our skin is our primary defense against things like pollution, grease and irritants, and it is no wonder that it so often feels tight and worn out!

As you may know, our skin is one of the leading indicators of our age and our health, and when you keep your skin looking healthy, your whole body will glow.

Body treatments are one way that people can keep their skin looking great, and if you have an interest in taking care of your skin, you'll find that body treatments can be a great treat or a regular maintenance care ritual that will leave you feeling terrific.

The most common body treatments are:

Hydrotherapy

Aromatherapy Baths

Body Scrubs

Body Wraps

Benefits

Essentially, a body treatment is a facial for your skin. If you think about it, is easy to see that the skin all over your body needs to be cleansed, re-hydrated and exfoliated, and it is easy to see why such treatment would leave you with a general glow of health!

You'll find that after a body treatment, you will feel rested and energetic.

This treatment can be used by itself, or it can be used as a prelude to a massage and a facial. You'll find that the exfoliation action on your skin will leave it tingling and reinvigorated.

How are they done?

Typically, what will happen is that you will lie down on a massage table and your massage therapist will rub a special exfoliating mixture into your skin.

Some common components are sea salts, essential oils and aromatics that are designed to make you feel peaceful and calm.

You may also find that warm, musky scents can be used, as can cooler scents like peppermint or cucumber. This process usually takes about ten to fifteen minutes, and you will then be showered without soap.

At this stage, many spas are implementing the use of the Vichy shower, which is a wonderful luxurious way to rinse all of the oil and exfoliating material off.

Essentially, a Vichy shower includes the use of five to seven shower heads which will spray water on you in from a variety of different directions.

Many spas will have the body treatment take place in the shower; in that case, you won't even have to move from where you are lying to feel the soothing warm spray!

Afterwards, you'll be given a body mask and a body wrap, the components of which will depend on the purpose of your treatment.

For instance, if you are interested in a detoxifying treatment, mud or seaweed can be used to draw toxins from your body, whereas if you are interested in a hydrating treatment, you will use lotions or creams.

More and more, we are realizing that we need to take care of our bodies if they are going to take care of us, so make sure that you give yours the pampering it needs!
