Body Scrubs

Why Get a Body Scrub?

We all know how important exfoliation is to our faces; it makes our skin glow and thanks to the vigorous action, it will give us a great look through the better circulation.

What many people do not know is that exfoliation is for a lot more than just your face.

What is a Body Scrub?

A body scrub is basically an exfoliation for the whole body; with a body scrub, you'll be able to get that special glow and revitalizing feeling throughout your entire body.

While there are some companies that sell at home body scrub kits, you'll find that body scrubs are body treatments that are typically to be found at spas.
Body Scrub When you are looking for a body scrub, you'll find that though there are several different types, they will often have the same goal.

Body scrubs will essentially remove the very top layer of skin cells from your body.

Though this might sound abrasive, the truth is that the skin cells that a body scrub will remove are just about ready to fall off anyway; the skin in question is dead.
Because this skin is quite opaque and rather grayish looking, it has the result of making your skin look ashy and dull. Scrubbing it from your body will reveal the new, fresh skin beneath, contributing that looked-for glow.

Types of Scrubs

Gommage

One type of body scrub that is offered in many spas is gommage. During gommage, your skin will be lightly painted over with a cream or a paste, which will dry within a few minutes. Your technician will then remove it from your skin by rubbing at it gently, which makes it roll up and take the dead skin underneath with it.

The ingredients of a gommage will vary from spa to spa, so if you have concerns, ask a technician before you sign up for the procedure. Some gommage treatments will involve the use of enzymes to dissolve the dead cells, making removal easier.

When you are considering gommage, remember that you should not use it if you have older skin that is getting thin or papery; similarly, gommage should not be used over skin blemishes or broken capillaries. Many spas will also warn you away from this procedure if you are known to have sensitive skin.

Salt Glow

If your spa has a wet room, there is a good chance that instead of gommage, they will offer a salt glow. A salt glow may also be known as a sea salt scrub or a sea scrub, and its main purpose is to exfoliate the skin of your body as well as rehydrate your skin at the same time.

A salt scrub will typically be used if a spa has a wet room, which enables the mixture used to be rinsed off your body in a wonderfully warm shower.

This is not a procedure for people who are concerned about bodily modesty. The procedure usually begins with you lying on a massage table or a wet table, with a towel or a plastic sheet covering you. Some spas now offer you the convenience of disposable underwear, allowing you to move more freely.

Your technician will slather your body with a mix of sea salts for exfoliation action, oils for rehydration, and various aromatherapy scents to clear your head and to pull the stress from your mind. After these substances have done their work, you'll have them rinsed off of you; no soap will be used to better allow you to keep the oils and the aromatics on your body's skin.

While some spas will need you to take a very short walk to the shower, you'll find that more and more spas are offering a wet room equiped with Vichy showers.
In a wet room with this equipment, you'll find that the massage therapist can use a handheld showerhead to rinse your body for you, and he or she will turn on the Vichy shower.
The Vichy shower is a set up with five to seven showerheads that will be turned on you simultaneously, allowing you to be thoroughly rinsed very quickly.
You'll find that the Vichy shower will also give you a wonderfully light and soothing sensation of being totally clean after your body scrub, which will leave you feeling reinvigorated and refreshed.

After the body scrub, you may leave, but in many places, you will be able to follow this procedure up with a body wrap a massage and a facial.

Take some time to really treat your body the way it deserves; see what you can do for it with a body scrub!
